Ski jumping: Austrian champion on the large hill selected

Michael Hayböck secured the ÖSV championship title in ski jumping from the Großschanze on Saturday in Bischofshofen.

After extensive testing with new material, the Upper Austrian had returned to his proven jumping shoes three days earlier and promptly repeated his 2015 success.Hayböck won 1.3 points ahead of Gregor Schlierenzauer.Double world champion Stefan Kraft finished third.

Hayböck landed at 137 and 135.5 meters and intercepted Schlierenzauer (137.5/135.5) in the final,”I found my way back to really good jumps with the change.I have to jump what works,”said the Salzburg resident who had not been able to cope with the new material in the best possible way.It gives you a lot of confidence.”

Local hero Kraft flew in the final to the daily maximum distance of 140 meters.Title defender Manuel Fettner finished tenth.
