Patience is a virtue – especially after complicated injuries in professional sports.Kei Nishikori has often been forced to be longsuffering in his career, and now the physically fragile Japanese must again act with foresight.

The tendon injury in the right wrist, sustained by the 27-year-old during a training session in Cincinnati, led to the early end of the season. Now comes the next bad news.

“I hope Kei will return before the Australian Open, but I can’t believe it,”said his coach Dante Bottini in an interview with Chancha Radio 1.His protégé will not be able to hit a few balls again for another month at the earliest, after all, you have to be extremely careful.

“The protective tissue around the tendon is broken. It’s an injury like Belinda Bencic, Kim Clijsters and Juan Monaco,”said the former Argentinian professional.

Should Nishikori have to give up the first Grand Slam tournament of the coming year, he is threatened with crashing from the top 30.2017 he was defeated by the later champion Roger Federer in Melbourne in a thrilling five-match match.
