In China a lot of money is invested to find a worthy successor for Li Na.According to Agnieszka Radwanska, the Chinese are on the right track.
The Asian tour seems to have made an impression on some of the players. At least Agnieszka Radwanska loves the skills of Chinese women tennis players.
With Li Na, Chinese women’s tennis experienced a great moment a few years ago and was able to celebrate two Grand Slam titles with the friendly lady from Wuhan.
At the moment there are some Chinese women in the WTA ranking.Radwanska is certain that these players will be able to advance far in the near future. At the South China Morning Post, the 28-year-old stated:”I know that Li Na is a kind of goddess here and she was a great player, of course, I’ve played against her a lot.”
There is no doubt that the next generation will follow in the footsteps of Li Nas,”Aga” does not doubt. The people in charge put a lot of work into the sport.I think we’ll see a lot of good players from China in the next few years, there are already more of them on the tour,”Radwanska added.
Indeed, there are currently five Chinese women in the top 100 in the WTA ranking.Shuai Peng (WTA 25), Shuai Zhang (WTA 31), Qiang Wang (WTA 41), Saisai Zheng (WTA 90) and Ying-Ying Duan (93) are on the way up.Among the top 200, there are as many as ten players from the People’s Republic.
On their tour through Asia, Radwanska was particularly impressed by the newly built tennis courts:”Ten years ago, not many Chinese women were on the tour. Now you can see many academies and facilities for tennis.”
Last week, the lively Polish player met China’s second-highest female player.Radwanska beat Shuai Zhang 7:5 and 7:5 in Beijing with a narrow two-set win over Shuai Zhang, who is clearly one of the best Chinese players and has enormous potential,”admitted the current number 17 in the world after her match.
At the current Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open, Radwanska had no trouble at all with Ling Zhang, but only three games against the local heroine in the first round. The next opponent is the Australian Samantha Stosur.
