ATP: Dirty exchange of blows

Nick Kyrgios has to accept harsh criticism from an ex-rugby star after his controversial task against Steve Johnson in Shanghai.

The discussions about Nick Kyrgios are entering the next round.A former Australian rugby star followed suit and attacked his fellow countryman during a radio show. The reason for Matthew Johns’ attack is Kyrgios’ abandonment of the first round at the Masters in Shanghai.

The 22-year-old lost his first set against the American Steve Johnson and gave up for no apparent reason.Kyrgios had problems with the referee and the audience, who, according to Kyrgios, are said to have called in again and again, especially in the decisive tiebreak in passage one. 16,500 dollars were fined against the number 21 of the world.

Johns described Kyrgios’ behavior in the Triple M show as “bullshit” and “disgraceful behavior”:”People pay so much money for watching people like him play.He is said to have said during the match that he would stop if he lost the first set.On Twitter he apologizes that he would have had a stomach ache. Please,”Johnson proved.

The 46-year-old compared the behaviour of the tennis star to the 38-year-old footballer Tom Cahill, who was in charge of Australia’s World Cup qualification for the 2018 tournament in Russia:”On the one hand, you have a 38-year-old who runs tirelessly up and down the pitch for the’ Socceroos’ for 90 minutes and then there is Nick Kyrgios, who is young. Not even a little bit.”

The reaction of Kyrgios was not long in coming. The Australian spoke to us via Twitter:”Why is Matthew Johns talking about individual sports?Doesn’t he like to do things in groups?”, Kyrgios said on his social media channel. The allusion to whether Johns would not like to do things in groups should be aimed at his past.

In 2009, Johns was involved in a sex scandal with some of his teammates.Johns admitted then that he was sexually active with this woman, but left the room when several players joined him.The woman did not bring charges against the players.

It remains to be seen whether the dirty hammer replacement will enter the next round. The last word, however, does not seem to be spoken yet.
