ATP: Mayer fails in first round in Antwerp

Florian Mayer has been eliminated as the second German at the ATP tournament in Antwerp.The 34-year-old veteran from Bayreuth also lost a day after Peter Gojowczyk’s loss in his first-round match against the American Frances Tiafoe 3-6,4-6.

From a German point of view, only Cedrik-Marcel Stebe (Vaihingen/Enz) will be represented in Antwerp, the 27-year-old will meet the Belgian Steve Darcis.

Munich’s Gojowczyk had lost 6:7 (5:7), 6:7 (2:7) against Belgian Ruben Bemelmans on Monday.
