The British number one Johanna Kontakt has broken up with her coach Wim Fissette and announced the end of the season. She will not travel to Singapore as a substitute for her, nor will she play at the Elite Trophy in Zhuhai.
“After careful consideration, Wim Fissette and I have decided to terminate our working relationship,” Contacts said in a letter.”We have achieved a lot and I am very grateful for his patience, hard work and expertise.
The 26-year-old will now take the time to recover from her foot injury, which she had braked in the second half of 2017. Fissette spent a little less than a year as a trainer of contacts.
“I will be working with my team over the next few weeks to find the right way forward for me. I don’t want to make a quick decision about a new coach, I want to make the right decision.”
Contacts won the Masters event in Miami this year and reached the semi-finals at the home Grand Slam in Wimbledon, where she lost to Venus Williams. It currently ranks tenth in the WTA ranking.
