ATP: Matchiebreak into happiness

The Austrian double specialist Oliver Marach and his partner Mate Pavic won the double title at the Intrum Stockholm Open.

In a thrilling final, the Austrian, together with his partner, defeated the doubles Aisam Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer 3:6,7:6 (6) and 10:4 in the match tiebreak.

In the first set, the Austrian-Croatian double had to accept the decisive break at a score of 3:4. Both doubles played flawlessly in their serve games until then. The spectators also saw a balanced match in the second half of the round. So the tiebreak decision had to be determined. In an exciting match, Marach fought off the first match point with an ace in a score of 5:6. Afterwards, Marach and Pavic won three points in a row and equalled in the sets.

The decision in the Stockholm final was decided in the match tiebreak, where Marach and Pavic got the better start. The comfortable lead of 8:4 could not be taken away from the double specialists and secured the title in the Swedish capital with a strong 10:4 in the match tiebreak.

For Marach it was already the 17th time. Career title, Partner Pavic celebrated his eighth triumph.
