ATP: Djokovic and Wawrinka aim for a comeback at the turn of the year

Long-term injured Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka want to return to the tennis stage at the end of December. Former world number one Djokovic (Serbia) and the three times Grand Slam winner from Switzerland have won the Mubadala World Tennis Championship (28. till 30. December) in Abu Dhabi. This was announced by the tournament management on Tuesday.

Twelve-time Major Winner Djokovic (30) had finished his season prematurely due to a lengthy injury to the elbow following his quarter-finals at Wimbledon. The 32-year-old Wawrinka cures an injury to his left knee, which had already hindered him in his first-round defeat at Wimbledon.

The Invitational Tournament in the United Arab Emirates is a preparation for the Australian Open (15. till 28. January).
