ATP Challenger: Gerald Melzer in Lima in the quarter-finals

Gerald Melzer prolongs his good form on the South America Swing of the ATP-Challenger Tour: the left-hander has also reached the quarter-finals in the Peruvian capital.

Gerald Melzer remains immaculate in Lima: the Austrian Davis Cup player, who had contributed two points to the 4-1 win over Romania in Wels, will be in the Peruvian capital after two sovereign victories in the quarter-finals. Melzer had few problems in round one against Carlos Taberner in the 6:4,6:4,6:4, but the second round win against Jose Hernandez-Fernandez was even more obvious with 6:4,6:0.

In the round of the last eight, Melzer will face Argentina’s Facundo Bagnis on Friday, who had beaten the tournament’s number two player, Victor Estrella Burgos, in a close match. For the tournament victory in Lima, 80 points are awarded for the world ranking list.
