Cancellation of the cancellation: Dominic Thiem will probably take part in the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bércy next week.
Not so fast – that’s how you could sum up the last day for Dominic Thiem. At first, the Austrian competed against Richard Gasquet in the Vienna Stadthalle, then the Frenchman came back and said goodbye to Thiem’s home tournament. The Lichtenwörther told the Austrian radio station Ö3 that he could do without the last ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year next week.
However, with a seriousness that the conclusion was obvious that Thiem did not actually fly to Paris. Also and especially because of minor injuries.
A few hours later, the situation was obviously somewhat different when the tableau of Paris-Bércy was drawn on Friday evening, it can now be assumed that the name of Thiem will be represented there.
A cancellation should have been cancelled by Friday, 4:00 pm. Thiem refrained from doing so.
In an interview with Ö3, Thiem had pointed out that he thought it was important for him to travel to London at the end of the season in a completely healthy manner. This seems to be possible after a doctor’s visit on Friday afternoon with a start in Paris.
