ATP: Oliver Marach has to face a herniated disc.

Oliver Marach was injured and could not make it to the ATP-World-Tour-500-Tournament of the Wiener Stadthalle on Friday to reach the double semi-finals with his Croatian partner Mate Pavic against Marcelo Demoliner (BRA) and Sam Querrey (USA).

On Thursday, the Styrian won the quarter-finals against Santiago Gonzalez (MEX) and Julio Peralta (CHI) and suffered a slipped disc which forces Marach to end the season prematurely.”At 5:4 in the first set, I had a stinging pain in my back yesterday with a smash. I immediately knew that something worse had happened, because I know this pain from an older disc injury. I don’t know how, but somehow I managed to put an end to the pain and finish the match,”said Marach, who went to a specialist in Germany on Friday to be treated.

Marach won the double competition in Vienna’s Stadthalle 2009 alongside Lukasz Kubot from Poland. Last year he was in the final with the Frenchman Fabrice Martin.
