Juan Martin del Potro is in the final of the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in B. asel: the Argentinean defeated Marin Cilic in two sets and will now face either Roger Federer or David Goffin.

Marin Cilic is slowly becoming Juan Martin del Potro’s favourite opponent: last year, the Argentinean had managed to turn a match after a 2-0 setback at the Davis Cup final in Zagreb against Cilic for the first time. On Saturday, Del Potrio scored a 6:4 and 6:4 after 97 minutes in the semi-final of Basel in a duel between two former US Open champions, his tenth victory in the twelfth duel with Cilic.

For del Potro, it was much more important than for his opponent: The man from Tandil still has to score points in order to book for the season finale at the O2 Arena in London. Cilic, who had made it to the finals in Wimbledon this year, has already secured his ticket.
