ATP: Zverev plays in Milan – but only briefly

So, the leader of the NextGen stars will be running up at the big finale of tomorrow’s stars, even if only for a short time. Alexander Zverev will play an exhibition match against Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece and visit his fans in Milan.

Alexander Zverev announced last week that he would cancel the NextGen finals. The 20-year-old stated that he wanted to prepare himself optimally for the ATP finals in London. However, he emphasized that he would definitely be in Milan and take care of the fans and the tournament. The hamburger seems to keep this promise.

The actual top star of NextGen will play an exhibition match against Stefanos Tsitsipas. The many rule changes and innovations in the game will be particularly exciting.

There will be no second serve in the showmatch and the net rule for service will be dropped. The ATP has been thinking about making some changes in tennis for a long time. In this match, some of these ideas will now be tested in practice. At the U-21 World Championships, however, the normal, well-known tennis rules are used to play around with the upcoming stars such as Andrey Rublev and Karen Khachanov.

For Tsitsipas, the match against Zverev also offers the chance to get a taste of the next-generation finals. The 19-year-old Greek missed the qualification for the event in Italy by almost 170 points. Next year Tsitsipas could be one of the first NextGen stars.
