WTA: Wozniacki announces engagement – “Happy day of my life”

Just under three and a half years after the painful departure of golf star Rory McIlroy, Caroline Wozniacki, the Danish third-placed rider on the world rankings, is back on course in the port of marriage. The 27-year-old announced her engagement with US basketball player David Lee on Friday.

“The happiest day of my life”, twittered Wozniacki, who last weekend had won the WTA final of the eight best tennis pros of the year for the first time.

From 2011 to 2014, Wozniacki was associated with Northern Ireland’s sports idol McIlroy. Shortly after the couple sent out the invitations to their wedding, McIlroy left the Danish girl. Wozniacki had called the love-out a “shock” then.

Wozniacki dominated the WTA finals in Singapore last week. She coped best with the slow conditions in the city-state and played only two games against world number one Simona Halep in the second group game.
