Honest words from Destanee Aiava: The 17-year-old Australian values above all the pecuniary aspect of tennis.
Destanee Aiava has not only written history – the young Australian knows what really matters after her entry into the professional circus: the sober Mammon. At the Australian Open, however, Aiava started by setting a brand that will remain for life – she was the first player to be born in this millennium and entered a Grand Slam tournament.
At the moment, Aiava is in 169th place in the WTA World Ranking, and the potential for improvement is enormous. Also in financial terms. And that seems to be the original impetus for Destanee Aiava.
“I was one of those children who made our house look like a hut, so I was used to a poor lifestyle,”Aiava is quoted on the Canberra Times website,”but I want a sophisticated lifestyle,” sounds suspiciously similar to her fellow countryman Bernard Tomic, who is not suspicious of having ever been in a hut.
“I don’t want to lie about it anymore, honesty is the best policy.”
Nick was the first to admit that tennis is not what people think it would be,”continues Aiava. If you play and all the pressure is on you to live up to the expectations of everyone, it’s hard. I just want to make it clear it’s not as rosy as it seems.”
