ATP: Moya:”Nadal’s fit for London”

A big question before the ATP Tour Finals in London: How fit is Rafael Nadal? Coach Carlos Moya will give the green light.

Nadal had taken his hat off before his quarter-finals in Paris-Bercy, but his doctor in Barcelona last spoke of “only” stress, but the question was whether the world number one would have enough time to hit London fit.

“Rafa’s fine, his knee is fine,”Moya said at the Next Gen ATP finals in Milan,”He didn’t go on playing to take any risks. Rafa wants to know about it in London because it’s the only major tournament he hasn’t won yet”. In fact, Nadal made two final appearances in the unofficial World Cup, but lost to Roger Federer (2010) and Novak Djokovic (2013).

Moya went on to say that he had expected Nadal’s strong season to be the number one again,”I expected Rafa to be number one again. I’m not surprised because I saw how passionate he was about his training. His tennis and attitude have made him number one.”
