Basketball: EM-Quali: DBB ladies break into Czech Republic

The German women’s national team has started with a clear defeat in qualifying for the 2019 European Basketball Championship. The team of national coach Hermann Paar lost against the sixth place in the world rankings with 56:89 (36:36) after a good start.

We continue on Wednesday (20.30 hrs) with the meeting in Belgium.

In Saarlouis, the DBB team started strongly against the 2005 European Champion, led 22:14 and held a draw for the break. However, the German team then collapsed completely, and in the last quarter the team scored only four points. The best throwers were Sonja Greinacher (12 points), Svenja Brunckhorst and Nadjeschda Ilmberger (11 each).

Switzerland is the third opponent in Group G. The qualification will be held in eight groups of four, the group leaders and the six best runners-up will be in Latvia and Serbia. The DBB’s selection was last selected in 2011 for an EM.
