NBA: crash not a factor: Nowitzki wants to continue

Dirk Nowitzki is not thinking of saying goodbye to the NBA after the next false start with the Dallas Mavericks:”If the year goes on like this, I think I will play next season,”the 39-year-old told the Bild-Zeitung.

Dallas is last after 99:112 against Oklahoma City Thunder with two wins out of 14 games. When it comes to his sporting future, Nowitzki doesn’t look at the results as much as he does, but rather listens to his body:”So far, my health has been good – we’ve had eleven games in 18 days. But I’ve all joined in, I feel okay,”said the Wuerzburg resident:” This is very different from last year when I had Achilles tendon problems.

So far, no one has personally advised him to resign,”I don’t even think about that at all,”Nowitzki says. Despite the unsuccessful start to the season, he said that there was no reason to give up:”I know that I can’t keep my head down at this early stage of the season. If you do that, it’s going to be a very, very long season that’s no fun at all.”

Nowitzki, who stands at an average of 24.2 minutes, 10.5 points and 5.5 rebounds this season, wants to keep on trying everything with Dallas:”We have to fight our way through now, win a game here and there. And when everyone who’s been hurt is fit again, I hope we start a winning streak.”
