The hip-injured Briton and his successful coach Ivan Lendl have split up for the second time. This was announced by Andy Murray on his official website.
This separation comes as a surprise! Murray will return to the tour without his long-time coach Ivan Lendl “I thank Ivan for his help throughout the years. We celebrated great successes together and learned a lot from each other as a team,”writes the 30-year-old in a statement.
Now he wants to concentrate on being ready for the start of the Australian season. Lendl, who has been working with the former world number one from 2011 to 2014 and since 2016, wished Murray every success for the future:”We had a great run and lots of fun.
The 57-year-old sat in Murray’s box for all three Grand Slam titles and the two Olympic victories. Why the successful team is now going its separate ways again remains unmentioned.
The Scotsman, who slipped to 16th place in the world rankings, has not been able to play a match since his quarter-finals at Wimbledon due to a hip injury. Murray has announced his comeback for the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Brisbane.
