WTA: Ex-Kerber coach trains Croatian woman

Torben Beltz has found a new job on the WTA tour after Angelique Kerber’s separation. The 41-year-old, who led the Kieler to the Grand Slam titles in Melbourne and New York in 2016, is now working with Croatian Donna Vekic (21).

“It has a lot of potential and I’m sure we can achieve good results,”Beltz said. The world rankings-54. Vekic praised her new coach in the highest tones:”It’s a great way to learn from one of the best coaches. I look forward to this collaboration.”

Two weeks ago, Kerber had announced his departure from her long-time coach and his move to Wim Fissette from Belgium. Beltz had assisted Kerber during her previous professional career, except for a good two-year break (end of 2012 to early 2015).
