ATP:”I was shocked” – Vavrinka on Norman separation

Stan Wawrinka’s clear words to Magnus Norman:”The Swiss man is very disappointed by his ex-coach, who ended the successful collaboration over a month ago.

Six to seven days a week Stan Wawrinka is currently struggling for his comeback. Even though the injured knee still feels a bit stiff,”the goal is the Australian Open, even if I’m not 100 percent healthy,”the 32-year-old told a media round in Geneva.

Wawrinka was also able to gain something good from the five-month compulsory break during which he had to undergo surgery twice:”I was on the limit for years. The time-out allowed me to recover mentally.”

A huge disappointment, however, was the departure of ex-coach Magnus Norman. The Swede had asked for more time for his family and had spoken of an amicable separation.

Wawrinkas version sounds less harmonic:”That was a shock. In one of the worst moments of your career, you expect to be able to rely on your loved ones. The time he chose surprised me.”

For the successor,”Stan, the man” already has an old acquaintance in mind:”Paul Annacone could be the solution, we have already worked together during the last grass court season” The US-American is one of the most prominent representatives of his profession. Annacone made a name for himself as a long-time coach of Pete Sampras and Roger Federer.
