MLB: Media: Boone new Yankees team manager

Aaron Boone becomes new manager at the MLB for the New York Yankees. This is reported unanimously by various US media.

Boone succeeds Joe Girardi in the 27-times championship, whose contract expired in the fall after ten years together had not been renewed.

“I feel like the man who can take these guys to a new level,”Boone said after talking to Yankee officials in mid-November.

Boone played for New York in the 2003 season and provided a highlight. In the semi-final of the play-offs, the then professional won the decisive seventh game against the Boston Red Sox of the home run. In the World Series, the Yankees then lost to the Florida Marlins (2:4).

Boone was one of six candidates in the search for a new team manager. The Yankees also spoke to Hensley Meulens, Carlos Beltran, Rob Thomson, Eric Wedge and Chris Woodward, but they chose the inexperienced Boone:”I keep catching myself thinking about possible strategies,” said Boone,”Of course, my experience can be questioned, but I would say I’ve been preparing myself for this job in a certain way for 44 years.

The former Third Baseman was never a manager, most recently he worked as a TV commentator for ESPN. In his 12-year career, Boone played an average of. 263 and beat 126 home runs and 555 RBIs.

Boone’s grandfather Ray, his father Bob and brother Bret were also MLB professionals. Ray Boone was the only family member to win the title in 1948. Aaron Boone, who spent most of his 12 years as a player with the Cincinnati Reds, is married to the former Playmate Laura Cover.
