Cycling: Rail World Cup: Vogel sprints to the triple again

The two-time track cycling Olympic champion Kristina Vogel is still in a class of her own in the World Cup. In the Canadian city of Milton, the 27-year-old from Erfurt celebrated another triple victory at the weekend. As in the Polish Pruszkow and Manchester, Vogel won first in the sprint and then on Sunday at Keirin, as well as in the team sprint with her long-time partner Miriam Welte (Kaiserslautern).

“Again the triple! I am so proud!”, Vogel twittered.

In the team sprint Welte/Vogel beat the Netherlands in the final. In Keirin, Vogel won ahead of Katy Marchant from Great Britain. The sprint was won by the nine-time world champion in Saturday’s final against Shanne Braxpennincx from the Netherlands.

“That was another great performance. Kristina’s dominance intimidates the competition,”said sprint coach Detlef Uibel.
