ATP: Tommy Haas: Victory over Federer as age record

He did it again: For the third time in his career, Tommy Haas is the man who, as the oldest player since 1990, has landed a victory on the ATP Tour – and this against Roger Federer of all people!

At the 2:6,7:6 (8), 6:4 in round two of the MercedesCup, Haas was 39.2 years old – the oldest player since Jimmy Connors won an ATP level match in 1995. At that time, Connors also won on grass in Halle, Westphalia, at the age of 42.8 years over Martin Sinner. For Haas, this is the third time that he has been included in the record books as the oldest winner, as early as 2013 and 2015. Further prominent age record holders: Mansour Bahrami, Ronald Agenor, Andre Agassi and Rainer Schüttler.

Alex de Minaur won at the youngster level – he won an ATP match in Sydney at the age of only 17.9 years. Famous colleagues: Lleyton Hewitt (who won his first tournament in Adelaide), Andy Roddick, Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev.
