ATP: Becker wants to strive for a big tournament in Germany

Boris Becker wants to fight for a “big tennis tournament” in Germany “There are some licences on the market. In the end, it’s a question of price,”the 50-year-old told the trade journal tennis magazine:

“I think Hamburg can play a bigger role again in the future.”

The decision to award the license for the traditional tournament at Rothenbaum in Hamburg to the Austrian agency Matchmaker from 2019 onwards is supported by the new Head of Men’s Tennis at the DTB. Matchmaker could also change the location. Michael Stich had previously been responsible for the German Open in Hamburg since 2009.
