DEL: Cologne Sharks: Draisaitl pause for thought for Gogulla

A pause for thought for former national ice hockey player Philip Gogulla at the Cologne Sharks: coach Peter Draisaitl eliminated the 30-year-old striker from the squad for the away game on Friday evening with leaders Eisbären Berlin.

“We all agree that he’s one of the best players in the entire league. But it only makes sense if he is also our best player. And I was not of the opinion,”said Draisaitl of Cologne’s media.

The 52-year-old didn’t agree with the last few games of the highly competitive Duesseldorf native, who played 714 games (177 goals) for the eight-time champion,”I didn’t quite agree with his appearance,”Draisaitl said,”I hope this is a wake-up call for him and everyone else.”

Nick Latta joins the KEC team for Gogulla. Goalie Gustaf Wesslau is making his comeback with the sharks in Berlin. The swedish goalkeeper had to play on 6. I had an internal ligament rupture in my right knee when I played in Krefeld on October 1.
