WTA/ITF: Belinda Bencic with third title in a row

Next ITF tournament victory for Belinda Bencic: The Swiss won her third title en suite in Dubai.

While the Elie of the WTA prepares itself in different training groups, partly also with new coaches (such as Angelique Kerber or Johanna Kontakt) for the coming season, Belinda Bencic has already taken up weather again. And after their successes in Thailand and Taipei, they celebrated their third consecutive ITF-125,000 title. Bencic didn’t even have to go the full distance in Dubai – final opponent Ajla Tomljanovic once again had to fight more with her own body than with her opponent. After a 4:6 in the first set Tomljanovic had to give up because of complaints in the groin.

Belinda Bencic had meanwhile slipped to 308th place in the world rankings, but with her successes during the last weeks of the 2017 season she has once again become one of the top 100 players in the world. Two years ago, the 20-year-old Swiss woman finished her season as number 14 in the world.
