ATP/WTA: When John Isner serves the ladies

The American John Isner is one of the best players on the ATP tour and beats an average of almost 1000 aces a year. He leaves his female opponents no chance.

In fact, there is a rare picture for the audience from time to time. Not the fact that John Isner hits at over 220 km/h is unusual, but that there is a lady on the opposite side. And yet he has no mercy to expect from the American.

At the Hopman Cup in Perth, for example, this was seen from time to time. Isner is considered to be the best racket of the ATP tour and wins his games in a row only by his service. Breaking the 2.08 meter giant is almost impossible. Only the best players manage to get the 32-year-old into trouble on his own serve.

But Isner doesn’t have any mercy if a lady is facing him. Even then, it hits the opposite side with enormous speed. Serena Williams, Eugenie Bouchard or Agnieszka Radwanska were already suffering. Williams, too, drives at over 200 km/h every now and then. However, the 23-times Grand Slam winner can only watch out for a service on the body of Isner and his male colleagues.

A few of these curious scenes and the merciless impact of the American can be found here in the video:
