ITF Round-up: Finals for Altmaier and Hassan

Shortly before the contemplative days, two German participants spent another successful week on the ITF tour.

Daniel Altmaier started as number two in the seed list at the 15,000th ITF in Hong Kong/China and made it to the final without losing a set. But it wasn’t quite enough to win a tournament the day before Christmas Eve: The 19-year-old lost to Cheong-Eui Kim of Korea 3-6,6-3,5-7 in the final and thus missed his third ITF singles title in 2017.

Unseeded Benjamin Hassen also made it to the final at the 15,000cc Doha, Qatar, after beating the tournament’s number two, Marsel Ilhan, in three sets in the second round of the quarter-finals, and then dropping numbers five and six from the competition. However, the top seeded Alexey Vatutin was too strong in the final – he won 6-1,7-5.
