Hopman Cup: Mixed defeat: Kerber and Zverev miss title

Angelique Kerber (Kiel) and Alexander Zverev (Hamburg) missed their third German title at the Hopman Cup in Perth, Western Australia.

The German tennis duo lost the decisive mixed against the Swiss Belinda Bencic/Roger Federer 3:4 (3:5), 2:4.

In the duel with Switzerland it had confessed 1:1 after the two individual matches. After Zverev’s 7:6 (7:4), 0:6,2:6 against Federer, Kerber had equalized 6:4,6:2 against Bencic. Due to the success in the Mixed, Switzerland won its third title.

This means that Michael Stich and Steffi Graf will remain the only German winners in Perth in 1993, as well as Boris Becker and Anke Huber in 1995.
