Jan-Lennard Struff dropped out early in the final rehearsal for the Australian Open. The Davis Cup player failed in the first round of Sydney.

After just over an hour the 1:6,4:6 from Struff was sealed against the seventh seeded Bosnian Damir Dzumhur. On Show Court 1, the Warsteiner revealed weaknesses in service, which he had to give up four times. Only in 23 percent of the cases Struff scored the point when he had to cross the second serve.
