ATP: Struff with early end in Sydney

Jan-Lennard Struff dropped out early in the final rehearsal for the Australian Open. The Davis Cup player failed in the first round of Sydney.

After just over an hour the 1:6,4:6 from Struff was sealed against the seventh seeded Bosnian Damir Dzumhur. On Show Court 1, the Warsteiner revealed weaknesses in service, which he had to give up four times. Only in 23 percent of the cases Struff scored the point when he had to cross the second serve. At his season opener in Doha, the world rankings were 53rd. in the round of sixteen in three sets at the later tournament winner Gael Monfils failed.

From a German perspective, Philipp Kohlschreiber (Augsburg/No. 6) and Mischa Zverev (Hamburg/No. 8) will be represented at the $528,910 hard court tournament in the Olympic city of 2000. Last year’s quarter-finalist Kohlschreiber will face Russian qualifier Daniil Medvedev in his first-round match on Monday, while Zverev will face Leonardo Mayer from Argentina on Tuesday.
