ATP: Nick Kyrgios still missing a rank

The tournament victory in Brisbane brought Nick Kyrgios up three places in the world rankings. However, this does not bring significant improvements to the Australian Open’s seed list.

Nick Kyrgios did everything in his power in Brisbane: the Australian won the tournament, beat Ryan Harrison in the final and scored 250 points for the world rankings. However, Kyrgios was not able to reach 17th place in the current situation – and it would certainly be advantageous for the seed list of the Australian Open to be ranked at least one position higher: As 16th – John Isner is currently ranked there – one round later you would only come across one of the top players.

If a player does not withdraw from the game (it’s still a big question mark over Stan Wawrinka’s appearance), Nick Kyrgios might have to face one of the favourites in round three. Which would not be pleasant for both sides.

Rafael Nadal continues to lead ahead of Roger Federer and Grigor Dimitrov. Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem follow, the last man in the top ten is Pablo Carreno Busta.

Eleventh place is followed by Kevin Anderson, the South African who has worked his way forward by three positions with the final draw in Pune. His conqueror, Gilles Simon, improved by 32 places to 57th place.

The final for Andrey Rublev in Doha is also important: The Russian is 32nd after an improvement of seven positions and will be seeded for the first time at a Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne. Gael Monfils, who celebrated his seventh win in Doha, is 37th.

Second best German is Philipp Kohlschreiber in position 29, Mischa Zverev is 34th. led. From an Austrian point of view, it is not until Gerald Melzer reaches 102nd place.
