ATP: Auckland: Strong Gojowczyk takes Sock by surprise

Peter Gojowczyk surprisingly made it to the quarter-finals at the ATP tournament in Auckland, New Zealand. The 28-year-old defeated the world’s number one ranked yacht Jack Sock 6:3,6:3,6:3 and thus entered the round of the last eight in Qatar as in the previous week.

There the German meets Robin Haase from the Netherlands.

Gojowczyk was already trailing in the first set against the favourites with a break, before he took Sock’s serve twice and won the round. In the second set he also managed two breaks, after a little more than an hour he turned his first match point.
