At the Melbourne Exhibition Tournament, the stars performed at the Tie Break Tens Melbourne. Tomas Berdych secured the title ahead of Rafael Nadal – Dominic Thiem failed in round one.
At the Tie Break Tens in Melbourne, Dominic Thiem had to admit defeat to the strong Canadian Milos Raonic.
The Austrian gave away a 6:3 lead and ended the match with a double error and finished 7:10. For Thiem it was his second defeat on Wednesday after he lost to comebacker Novak Djokovic.
Thiem-Bezwinger Raonic fought a tough duel with Tomas Berdych in the semi-final. He entered the final with a narrow 11:9 victory.
On the other side, the “Djoker” also had to leave the fun tournament early in his second game after the injury break. Lleyton Hewitt, who will make a brief comeback at the Australian Open, lost the “Djoker” 6:10.
In the semi-finals, Hewitt faced world number one Rafael Nadal, who did not give Frenchman Lucas Pouille a chance in the preliminary round at 10-1. Nadal also had the upper hand in the semi-final and won 13:11 against Hewitt.
In the final match, Berdych played concentrated against Nadal and won the 10:5 tournament, earning a solid 250,000 euros.
It was good to see that the fun came first and Nadal is in good physical condition before the start of the Australian Open. In contrast to Stan Wawrinka, who had cancelled for the Tie Break Tens at short notice and was replaced by Raonic.
A double was also played. Thiem played a funny show alongside Nick Kyrgios against Djokovic and Pouille. Especially the spectators got their money’s worth and were spoiled by the stars with fun tennis.
