Australian Open: Brown and Lottner go on, hemp man and Kamke out

Dusty balance for the German starters in the qualification competitions for the Australian Open: While Dustin Brown and Antonia Lottner are one lap ahead, Tobias Kamke and Yannick Hanfmann had to say goodbye.

In an epic match Brown defeated the junior winner of the last US Open Di Wu with 3:6,6:4 and 7:6 (16) in an epic match and is now in the final round where he will meet Stefan Kozlov, who defeated Yannick Hanfmann in three sets. Tobias Kamke was defeated by Kozlov’s compatriot Denis Kudla 2:6 and 5:7.

From a German point of view, there is good news for the ladies: Antonia Lottner fought back against the Italian Deborah Chiesa after missing the set, entered the second round of the qualification competition with a 2:6,7:6 (5) and 6:2. After 2:16 hours of play, Lottner had only two points more than her opponent – but also the most important: the last.
