Australian Open: Dennis Novak missing a victory for the main draw

Dennis Novak has fought his way through again: Dominic Thiem’s training partner is now playing against the Japanese Go Soeda for a place in the main draw of the Australian Open 2018.

Dennis Novak has also won his second qualifying match at the Australian Open and has high hopes for his first appearance at a Grand Slam tournament. The Lower Austrian defeated Danilo Petrovic from Serbia after almost two hours 6:7 (5), 6:4 and 7:5.

Novak was particularly convincing with his serve: He fired a total of 17 aces into the field of Petrovic, who did not score a single break. Novak, on the other hand, took off his opponent’s serve twice.

In the last qualifying round, Novak will now face Go Soeda from Japan, who had no problems with the Russian Alexey Vatutin on Thursday.

Here is the tableau for the qualification of the men at the Australian Open
