Australian Open: Bachinger continues, Lottner eliminated

Rainfalls messed up the qualification round at the Australian Open: Matthias Bachinger won, Antonia Lottner lost and Dustin Brown waited in vain.

Munich’s Bachinger defeated the Australian local hero James Duckworth 6-4,6-4,6-4 and still needed a win to enter the main round of the first Grand Slam tournament of the year. On Sunday, Bachinger will meet Alejandro Gonzalez from Colombia.

Meanwhile, Brown was waiting in vain for his mission on Saturday because of the bad weather conditions in Melbourne. The 33-year-old from Winsen/Aller is already in the third and final qualifying round. The opponent on Sunday is Stefan Kozlov from the USA.

Antonia Lottner, on the other hand, retired from Düsseldorf. The world rankings-153. Anna Blinkova from Russia was defeated 7-5,4-6,5-7. The match, which was cancelled on Friday because of the rain, continued on Saturday at 4:4 in the third set.
