Australian Open: Djokovic leaves a strong impression – Wawrinka wins too

Melbourne record winner Novak Djokovic won his first official match after a six-month break and is now in the second round of the Australian Open. Stan Wawrinka, on the other hand, had more problems.

The six-time champion Djokovic did not give the American Donald Young a chance at the opening 6-1,6-2,6-4. Despite the elbow problems, which had hindered the Serbs in the past months and also in the preparation, he left a strong impression.

Like Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka had played his last match so far last July in Wimbledon. A knee surgery threw the Swiss far behind. The 2014 winner said on Saturday that it was already a great success to be in Melbourne at all. Three days later he won the first round against Ricardas Berankis from Lithuania 6-3,6-4,2-6,7-6,7-6 (7-2).
