Australian Open: Struff fails due to Federer

Despite good performance Jan-Lennard Struff failed in the second round of the Australian Open to defending champion Roger Federer in three sets.

The Davis Cup player lost in the last match of the day against defending champions Roger Federer (Switzerland/No. 2)4:6,4:6,6:7 (4:7).

Struff held up well in the third set in particular – and even had a break in the lead in the meantime. Nevertheless, it was not enough, as the “Maestro” held 17 aces against it. Federer, who was happy to be able to play again in the Night Session, will now meet Richard Gasquet. I like him because he plays such a nice one-handed backhand,”said Federer, who is expecting a tough match on Saturday.

Ten German players qualified for the main draw, with Zverev and Torterer remaining.
