Australian Open: Melbourne: 15-year-old Kostjuk loses in third round

The run of 15-year-old Ukrainian Marta Kostjuk at the Australian Open has been stopped. After a successful qualification and two victories in the main draw, she lost to her countrywoman Jelena Switolina in fourth place with 2:6,2:6.

Kostjuk, the youngest player since Martina Hingis from Switzerland, reached the third round in Melbourne 22 years ago. Switolina will celebrate her first round of the sixteen finals at the first Grand Slam tournament of the season on Sunday. She meets Denisa Allertova from the Czech Republic, number 130 in the ranking after a 6:1,6:4 against the also unseeded Polish Magda Linette for the first time in her career is among the best 16 of a major.
