Australian Open: Nadal enters Melbourne quarter-finals

Last year’s finalist Rafael Nadal entered the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in a confident manner, despite the first set loss in the course of the tournament.

Spain’s first in the world ranking, Diego Schwartzman from Argentina won 3:51 hours after 6:3,6:7 (4:7), 6:3,6:3,6:3 and will meet Marin Cilic (Croatia/No. 6) on Tuesday. Regardless of his further performance in Melbourne, the 2009 champion remains number one in the ranking ahead of his permanent rival Roger Federer (Switzerland).

Nadal (31), who had not played an official preparation match for the first time before the start of the Grand Slam Down Under due to his knee problems, gave the first set in the fourth duel with Schwartzman.
