Australian Open: Struff with Mclachlan in Melbourne’s double semi-finals

Jan-Lennard Struff has reached the first Grand Slam semi-final of his career in doubles. The 27-year-old Davis Cup player from Warstein surprisingly won the Australian Open alongside Japanese Ben Mclachlan against Lukas Kubot and Marcelo Melo (Poland/Brazil) 6-4,6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-5).

In preparation for the Davis Cup duel with Australia in Brisbane, Team Principal Michael Kohlmann (2nd place in the Davis Cup). till 4. February) even longer without Struff. Part of the team has been in training camp on the Gold Coast since Monday.

In the Melbourne semi-final, Struff and New Zealander Mclachlan will face either Marcus Daniell/Dominic Inglott (New Zealand/Great Britain) or Oliver Marach/Mate Pavic (Austria/Croatia). Struff had failed in the Happy Slam individual competition in the second round to superstar Roger Federer (Switzerland/No. 2) in three sets.
