The struggle for play-off places in the DEL continues to intensify. The Augsburg Panthers defeated champions and leaders of the standings Red Bull Munich after a gradual final phase with 4:1 (0:0,0:1,4:0) and regained tenth place. There the Duesseldorf EC stands after a 4:3 (2:1,1:1,1:1) against tail light Straubing Tigers.
Wolfsburg and Iserlohn, on the other hand, were outraged: The Grizzlies lost their fifth consecutive defeat 2:3 (0:1,0:0,2:2) at the Eisbären Berlin, the Roosters lost 2:5 (0:3,2:1,0:1) in the western duel against the penultimate Krefeld Pinguine.
The fourth and twelfth place in the standings are only seven points apart. The fourth-placed Wolfsburgers continue to lose ground with 67 points and can be overtaken on Wednesday by the ERC Ingolstadt (65) and the Kölner Haien (64). Iserlohn remains in seventh place with 65 points.
The Adler Mannheim (61) can also make it back into the top 10 on Wednesday and pass the DEG (63). Augsburg (60) can once again look forward to the play-offs.
At the top the third-placed polar bears with 88 points can no longer be pushed out of the top 6, the same applies to the Nuremberg Ice Tigers (89). Munich (94), who lost out for the fifth consecutive victory, had already won his direct ticket to the quarter-finals.
For a long time Munich had the game under control, but then the 2010 runners-up scored four goals within 200 seconds. Thomas Jordan Trevelyan (55th), Daniel Schmölz, Matthew White (both 56th) and Schmölz turned the game into an empty goal (58th) after international player Frank Mauer had put the visitors in the lead (28th).
