Roger Federer will play Czech player Tomas Berdych in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open – the “Matchtipp of the day” presented by LeoVegas.
Is the old-master duel between Roger Federer and Tomas Berdych going on like last year in Melbourne? Will it be another one-man-show of the “Maestros” and only takes 90 minutes? Probably not – because Berdych is going into the match with far better form than in the previous year’s edition.
At the beginning of the year, the Czech is presenting himself in old strength and already proved his physical top form at the “Tie Break Tens”when he went off the pitch as tournament winner in the fun cup. The serve and forehand have been on target since the Australian Open began and put pressure on the 32-year-old’s opponents.
On the other side is a 36-year-old Federer, who doesn’t seem to show any weakness and dominates the matches down under at will – once again.
The reigning tournament winner only had to give up a break in the matches before and varies with his basic strokes – the Swiss player’s game is once again a complete success. However, one thing is clear: the match against Berdych will be a tough test that Federer has not yet had to face in the current competition. Nevertheless, the 19-times Grand Slam Champion is the match of his opponent. Last year he served the Czechs in rows and made them look like a student boy in Miami and Wimbledon.
In direct comparison, Federer is also way ahead. With a statistic of 19 wins at six defeats, Federer is the clear favourite. Also because “FedEx” won the last eight games.
The greatest strength in Berdych’s game is his serve – and that’s what it’s all about in the quarter-finals. If Berdych should show weaknesses in this category, it could be a new and hopeless undertaking for the experienced rider. The veteran on the other side will wait for his chances and act aggressively and with a lot of variety.
Betting provider LeoVegas looks similar to the distribution of roles and sends Federer into the game with a favourite quota of 1.16. Berdych’s role as an outsider is on Berdych’s side, with a quota of 5.60.
