Australian Open: Mladenovic and Babos win women’s doubles in Melbourne

Kristina Mladenovic and Timea Babos have won their first joint Grand Slam title at the Australian Open.

The doubles from France and Hungary won the final against the favourite Olympic champions Jekaterina Makarowa and Yelena Wesnina from Russia 6:4,6:3. Mladenovic had her 15th birthday in the singles. defeat one after the other.

Makarova and Wesnina are still waiting for their first victory in Melbourne, and all the other major doubles events have already won them: 2016 gold in Rio, the French Open in Paris in 2013, the US Open in New York in 2014 and Wimbledon in 2017.
