Australian Open: Molleker/Squire loses junior final in doubles competition

The German juniors Rudolf Molleker and Henri Squire lost the double final at the Australian Open. The young talents were beaten by the Frenchmen Hugo Gaston and Clement Tabur 2:6,2:6.

Molleker and Squire were together for the first time in Melbourne. However, the unseeded duo was not allowed to achieve the great triumph. In the Margaret Court Arena, the Berlin and Düsseldorf residents were unable to take advantage of their only two break-outs and had to give up their own service four times. On their way to the final, the two 17-year-olds survived two match breaks and beat the Argentinian-Romanian doubles Tirante/Jianu in the semi-finals.

In the singles competition, the youngster’s jewel Molleker had already finished in the round of sixteen when he was beaten by Serbian Marko Miladinovic. Molleker is regarded as one of the most promising young players in Germany and has been working with the DTB for some time now on his future.
