In a duel with Egypt, Norway relies on a veteran who actually resigned 17 years ago: Christian Ruud, father of #NextGen aspirant Casper.

The news that Christian Ruud is making a comeback in the Norwegian Davis Cup team could only be explained by one reason: Christian, now 45 years old, wants to join his son Casper in the most traditional men’s tennis team competition alongside him, preferably in doubles.

In fact, however, there will be a solo for the senior in Sharm el Sheik against the Egyptian side, Casper shuts down the lowlands of the European-African zone, preferring to compete in the qualifying tournament for the ATP-250 in Quito. Casper had recently won a marathon match against Frenchman Quentin Halys in the main draw at the Australian Open, after which he was defeated by Diego Schwartzman from Argentina.

His sire Christian represented the national colours of Norway at least once a year between 1989 and 200 in the Davis Cup, his last professional match was in 2001 in Roland Garros.
