Australian Open: Like father, like son: Junior Sebastian Korda wins in Melbourne

20 years after his father Petr’s Australian Open triumph, Sebastian Korda has won the junior title in Melbourne. In the final in the Rod Laver Arena, the 17-year-old won against Tseng Chun Hsin from Taiwan 7:6 (8:6), 6:4.

Petr Korda (50) had celebrated his only Grand Slam title as Czech in 1998, Sebastian Korda started for the USA. The Korda family now lives in Bradenton/Florida and not only enjoys great success in tennis. The daughters Jessica (24) and Nelly (19) play professional golf on the LPGA tour.

Jessica has already won four titles, including the Australian Open at Melbourne’s Royal Golf Club in 2012. She is currently number 26 in the world rankings, Sister Nelly follows in 70th place. Mother Regina, born Rajchrtova, was successful in tennis like her husband Petr. In 1991 she was ranked 26th in the WTA ranking.
