Australian Open: Croatian Pavic wins second Mixed title in Melbourne

The Croatian Mate Pavic also won the mixed title at the Australian Open in Melbourne one day after the double victory. Pavic (24) defeated Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski (25) and Rohan Bopanna (India) and Timea Babos (Hungary) 2:6,6:4 and 11:9 in the match tiebreak.

On Saturday Pavic won his first double title in a Grand Slam with the Austrian Oliver Marach. The duo defeated the Colombians Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 6:4,6:4. Marach and Pavic had thrown Jan-Lennard Struff (Warstein) and Ben Mclachlan (Japan) out of the tournament in three sets in the semi-finals.

Pavic already has three Grand Slam victories to his credit, and in 2016 he won the US Open with Laura Siegemund (Metzingen). Babos missed her second title in Melbourne in the Mixed, and on Friday she had already won the doubles with the French rider Kristina Mladenovic.
