Australian Open: Dehydration!

The women’s final of the Australian Open demanded everything from Simon Halep and left clear signs of exhaustion with the Romanian. After the final, the ex-number-one paid tribute to the exertion.

Schreck moment for Simona Halep after the Australian Open final against Caroline Wozniacki. The Romanian spent the night after the final in hospital. The reason for the stay is said to have been dehydration.

The exhaustion of the former number one was already evident during the match; after the press conference, Halep is said to have felt uncomfortable and was taken to hospital for safety reasons.

After an infusion, the 26-year-old’s condition had improved again and the losing finalist was able to leave the hospital after only four hours.

In the final in Melbourne, the Romanian lost after three exhausting sets and had to give up her top spot in the pecking order to her opponent Wozniacki.
